Nick Pick2People often seek out a Life Coach because they are at a turning point in their lives.  Life Coaching is valuable, as it gives you time to reflect on who you are, what you want, and where you’re going in your life.

You may need a Life Coach if you:

a.  Want more satisfaction, fulfillment and meaning in your life
b.  Are unhappy and know that something is missing.
c.  Are looking for a new life direction – ready for a new life, but you’re not sure what that means

How does coaching differ from therapy?

Therapy often deals with the past, and involves the resolution of painful issues from childhood or youth.  Life Coaching does not address these deep emotional traumas, however during the Life Coaching process it is possible that some of these issues resolve themselves.

Life Coaching is focused on finding tools and skills for creating a better future, reaching the goals you set.  Life Coaching is not a replacement for therapy. Some Life Coaching clients simultaneously participate in therapy. Some who seek Life Coaching may actually need therapy, and a good Life Coach should recognize this within one or two  sessions.  In some cases the ideal sequence is for Life Coaching  to follow therapy, so that the client has the emotional “static” out-of-the-way and can really focus, which is vital in Life Coaching. Also, whereas therapy sometimes needs to be open-ended, in coaching the client sets the priorities and the boundaries.

My Approach:

Rationalizing is the way we keep our eyes averted from reality. As a Life Coach, I do my best to get you to break through the rationalizations and acknowledge that lack of fulfillment. And I do it compassionately. Then I work with you to develop strategies for “forward thinking”, to dust yourself off and get back on track. I do give advice, but I do it to stimulate thinking & creativity. If we do something and it works, we celebrate the accomplishments. If it doesn’t, we discard it and take another approach.  I believe that we control our own thoughts, feelings, and behaviors.  So, there is always limitless potential in everyone.  It’s just a matter of reaching deep within and releasing it.

With coaching, I help you come up with clear and definite goals along with a personal mission statement. Then I coach you on a range of ways to take action on your mission. Without taking action, you see, your  dream remains a dream, a fantasy, a wish.

Our coaching sessions should last for about 3-6 months . I consider this to be a short-term contract.   I use proven success strategies. It takes a good 3 months to create new habits and most clients need another 3 months of accountability.  I won’t abandon you after you successfully reach your goals.  I’ll be here for you whenever you need my help.

As a Life Coach, I will seek to know you well enough to bring out the best in you.  A great man will impress you with what a great person he is, but a great coach will impress you with what a great person you are.

I  will guide you to reframe how you look at yourself, and will guide you to focus on your strengths, not your weaknesses.
